Peter denied Christ not once, but 3 times.
The Disciples fell asleep while praying.

The Samaritan woman was divorced, five times and was living with a sixth man.
Zaccheus was too small.
Timothy had an ulcer...AND Laraus was DEAD!!!

Now, no more excuses! God can use you. Besides, you are NOT the message, you are just the messenger.

OPRAH said WHAT!?

Oprah said, today, "People always look at their poop" Her topic was, "ARE YOU NORMAL?" I was not grossed out by the comment, but figured many woud be offended. I thought it would grab some attention and it did. I got some phone calls from those who thought it wasn't necessary to post it.  I got a few messages about how Oprah is not a christian and how I should not quote her. Well,  it just so happens that I like Oprah's show, I think it's often informative. As far as Oprah, herself, I have come to see her as a Human, not a black woman, not a democrat or republican...I identify her as a human, part of the human race,  a creation that God made, one of His children. God's word says we are to love one another, pray for one another. He didn't say to judge one another. I do agree with the song from Casting Crowns when they say, "What if God's people turned to Jesus and stopped asking Oprah what to do?" Maybe God made Oprah knowing she would be a venue to inform us, but also knowing she is with sin.  He also knew she wouldn't be perfect.

God has laid something on my heart, if it offends you, take it up with God, I make no apologies when it comes to Him. I am not perfect, nor do I claim to be. I am not angry with anyone. With that being said, here is what I feel lead to share:

We are TOO judgemental. Christians, we are the worst. Most of my "Christian" friends are the most judgemental people I know. It's time for this to stop. The Word of God says, in Matthew 7:4-5, "Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye."  We are not honoring God by passing judgement on each other. We do it so often that we don't even feel convicted. We get angry when someone suggets we are being judgemental. It has become okay to judge however we please. My kids say, "It's a free country". I respond, " No it's not a 'free' country. It cost lives for our freedoms." So yes, we have freedom to say what we want, I am using my freedom right now, however, God's word says, "those without sin, cast the first stone." In other words, none of us are without sin, none of us are perfect, we haven't any right to judge others. John 8:7 says "And as they continued to ask him, he stood up and said to them, Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.'"

How many of you would like it if this is what I said to you..."I can't believe you would go to a football game, paint your stomach & face, dye your hair the colors of your favorite team when it's 32 degrees outside. You are crazy! And then you scream your head off at people who can't hear you and wonder why your hoarse the next week? Why spend all of that time and energy, and the money? My goodness, did you even tithe last week? Did you even go to church? Why did you spend that much when you can't even pay your bills? Your priorities are all wrong." Many of you would NOT be slow to anger (as God's word instructs us in James 1:19" My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry") and would tell me exactly what you thought... some of you would never talk to me again. Some would ask what gives me the right to say this? I have a job and you don't, I pay taxes and your on public assistance, I am a christian and you are not, I am your friend and it's my place to pass this judgement, or how about this, I need to point out all of your faults to mask my own.  Is there really a good response?  Not in my heart there isn't.  God is asking us, "who gave you the authority to judge?" He commands us to love.

I am judged because I am too radical. Too radical for Jesus? Come on, we can paint our bodies, scream at the other team, and pay out too much money, but we can't get excited about Jesus? And those of us who are excited about Jesus, are we loving each other? Are we speaking to each other in love? Are we passing judgement on one another? Are we holding grudges and denying forgiveness?

I want to love people where they are and love them just the way they are, sin and all! I want to speak truth and speak it only in love. Ephesians 4:14-16 says, "Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.  I want to be slow to anger, slow to speak, and quick to listen. These are the actions I am going to take. Will you join me?

Seeing from Heaven's perspective

The following comes from the message that Pastor Robert Pena delivered at my grandmother's funeral over two years ago. I pray that it speaks to you, encourages you, as it has for me.

It's almost like, 'I don't want to learn anymore. I have heard my whole life about Jesus & I don't want anymore tribulation.' Yet, in that revelation there comes a preparation for when you run into that valley, the Lord has either placed a table in front us in the midst of our enemies on the mountain top & in that valley.  That is why He is the High Priest that has covered EVERYTHING that man has ever gone through or will ever go through. NOTHING is new to the one who sits at the right hand of God. What is so awesome about this is that Jesus did not come as the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost. He did not choose to come like Adam did when Adam walked in the garden in the cool of the day. Instead He said I will come in the likeness of sinful flesh, so that everything that comes against me, I will face as a man.  That way ALL mankind will be able to see the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

He never fails. He hits the mark every single time. So when we call upon a High Priest, He can say, "I contest, I understand, I have been there, I went through it in the same feening, in the likeness of sinful flesh and therefore I KNOW what your feeling and I am interceding for you AND YOU SHALL OVERCOME!
Your destiny is in His hands. Don't loose hope. Don't look at your situation as what it looks like now. You've got to understand that Heaven doesn't see things the way we see them. Just like in Psalm 116:15 says, "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints."  That's because there was nothing that was able to shake them from their faith. Nothing to get in the way as they began a good fight and they endured to the end to finish the race. They ran that race and ran it the best they could. Yes, they tripped here once in a while but know the word clearly states that a righteous man falleth seven times, but you see it's not the fall...it's the rising up that God looks at. You and I look at things in a particular light while the KING of KINGS sees past all what we see and what we THINK we see and in the end of our race He says, "Well done, welcome home, my good and FAITHful servant.
What more could you possibly ask for? I surely don't feel worthy to ask Him of anything...I just want to thank Him, even when it appears to be hopeless, for what He has already done. No need in waiting to thank Him for what He's going to do, for it's what He has ALREADY done that really matters.
Thank you, Pastor Robert (Bobby) Pena for sharing this message at my grandmothers funeral. It has been over two years since then and this message speaks to me EVERY SINGLE day! I love you and thank you for loving my Dad, as well, as our family. God bless you!

Love should be our name

1 Corinthians 13:1-10.  The first translation is from The Message Bible

 The Way of Love
"If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don't love, I'm nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate. If I speak God's Word with power, revealing all his mysteries and making everything plain as day, and if I have faith that says to a mountain, "Jump," and it jumps, but I don't love, I'm nothing. If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don't love, I've gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I'm bankrupt without love."

Love never gives up. Love cares more for others than for self. Love doesn't want what it doesn't have.  Love doesn't strut, Doesn't have a swelled head, Doesn't force itself on others, Isn't always "me first," Doesn't fly off the handle, Doesn't keep score of the sins of others, Doesn't revel when others grovel, Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth, Puts up with anything,Trusts God always, Always looks for the best, Never looks back, But keeps going to the end.
Love never dies. Inspired speech will be over some day; praying in tongues will end; understanding will reach its limit. We know only a portion of the truth, and what we say about God is always incomplete. But when the Complete arrives, our incompletes will be canceled."

In the book, "Crazy Love", by Francis Chan, he asks the reader to read 1 Corinthians 13:1-10 as it is written in the bible. Then he suggests reading it a second time adding a simple, yet, profound test. Put your name in place of the word Love, and ask yourself if what your saying is true, because it should be.

1 Corinthians 13:1-10 (English Standard Version)
"If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; love is not arrogant. Love is not rude. Love does not insist on its own way; love is not irritable or resentful. Love does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but love rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, love believes all things, love hopes in all things, love endures all things. Love never quits.
As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away."

It's a Verb...Put it in motion

Love insists we do something. Feelings follow action. Feelings are the fruit, not the root, of love. If you give your enemy something to eat or drink, something happens to your feelings. When you invest yourself in someone, you begin to feel differently toward them.

Matthew 5:43-44 (The Message)
"You're familiar with the old written law, 'Love your friend,' and its unwritten companion, 'Hate your enemy.' I'm challenging that. I'm telling you to love your enemies. Let them bring out the best in you, not the worst. When someone gives you a hard time, respond with the energies of prayer, for then you are working out of your true selves, your God-created selves. This is what God does. He gives his best—the sun to warm and the rain to nourish—to everyone, regardless: the good and bad, the nice and nasty. If all you do is love the lovable, do you expect a bonus? Anybody can do that. If you simply say hello to those who greet you, do you expect a medal? Any run-of-the-mill sinner does that."

Loving without conditions changes us and changes circumstances that, normally, would be untouchable.  Hate, anger, resentment, and grudges are like cement setting up inside of us. It isn't always easy to turn the other cheek when someone has caused you grief.  Praying for those that hurt us, hate us, ridicule us seems unthinkable, but the word of God instructs us to forgive and to love. God will and does equip us with the ability to forgive and to love.

My hearts desire is to know the heart of God. With knowledge comes wisdom and understanding. With wisdom, truth is revealed and it unleashes an overwhelming urge to show love and mercy.

Treat others as you wish to be treated...does this apply to computers too?

I need to vent! I would LOVE to toss this laptop off the balcony right about now! I am not so sure this qualifies as rightous anger and as I begin to cool down, I see that I almost  allowed my temper to get the best of me. Why, do you ask?I have spent the last 90 minutes working on this here "note" AND JUST AS I AM ABOUT TO POST IT, POOF, IT'S GONE!
Soooo, instead of powering down this device, I realize what has been on my heart still needs to be shared. Someone out there is in need of this word, as it is straight from God's word. I pray this speaks to you and brings you to a new place in your relationship with Jesus Christ, as well as everyone around.
Simple rule most everyone has heard at one time or another. I say it, I know, at least 3 times a day to my children. It is referred to as the golden rule, and golden it is! These are words to live by and it seems to fit each and every situation I can imagine. You can't go wrong when you choose to put it into action. Yet, I see that the  golden rule is thrown around so often, I wonder if people still take it serious. I know Jesus was the one who said it, but why did He? Do you know why? Have you ever wondered? I never really did until this morning when it kept running over and over in my thoughts, keeping me up half the night. I tried to ignore the never-ending, racing thought, that was obviously determined to keep me awake. I figured God must be trying to tell me something. I knew ignoring God would be the thing NOT to do if I planned on getting sleep, so I looked it up in 8 different translations to make certain I didn't miss anything. I didn't miss it this time! I heard Him loud and clear and in Luke 6:31 you will find this very "simple", yet," GOLDEN" statement. What I read before verse 31 and after verse 31 was what really shook me to the core. I've always known who I am in Christ, Jesus, but at times I have failed to accept it and own it, until this morning.

When I came to the eighth translation, I promise I felt like waking up my neighbors so I could share it with them. This was a revelation to me and  I can see where some of you want to giggle! I can't help it, I am thrilled now without sleep and I don't care that I had to re-write this note so I could share with someone instead of waking people at 3:30 in the morning!

and here is what I read in the last translation, which happens to be the Message:

Then he spoke: And that is all that I have to share. Be blessed and goodnight! OH! please over look spelling and grammatical error, I will fix later!
"You're blessed when you've lost it all. God's kingdom is there for the finding. You're blessed when you're ravenously hungry. Then you're ready for the Messianic meal. You're blessed when the tears flow freely. Joy comes with the morning. 22-23 Count yourself blessed every time someone cuts you down or throws you out, every time someone smears or blackens your name to discredit me. What it means is that the truth is too close for comfort and that that person is uncomfortable. You can be glad when that happens—skip like a lamb, if you like!—for even though they don't like it, I do . . . and all heaven applauds. And know that you are in good company; my annointed ones have always been treated like this. 24 But it's trouble ahead if you think you have it made. What you have is all you'll ever get. 25And it's trouble ahead if you're satisfied with yourself. Your self will not satisfy you for long. And it's trouble ahead if you think life's all fun and games. There's suffering to be met, and you're going to meet it. 26"There's trouble ahead when you live only for the approval of others, saying what flatters them, doing what indulges them. Popularity contests are not truth contests—look how many scoundrel preachers were approved by your ancestors! Your task is to be true, not popular.
27-30"To you who are ready for the truth, I say this: Love your enemies. Let them bring out the best in you, not the worst. When someone gives you a hard time, respond with the energies of prayer for that person. If someone slaps you in the face, stand there and take it. If someone grabs your shirt, giftwrap your best coat and make a present of it. If someone takes unfair advantage of you, use the occasion to practice the servant life. No more tit-for-tat stuff. Live generously.
31-34"Here is a simple rule of thumb for behavior: Ask yourself what you want people to do for you; then grab the initiative and do it for them! If you only love the lovable, do you expect a pat on the back? Run-of-the-mill sinners do that. If you only help those who help you, do you expect a medal? Garden-variety sinners do that. If you only give for what you hope to get out of it, do you think that's charity? The stingiest of pawnbrokers does that.
35-36"I tell you, love your enemies. Help and give without expecting a return. You'll never—I promise—regret it. Live out this God-created identity the way our Father lives toward us, generously and graciously, even when we're at our worst. Our Father is kind; you be kind.
37-38"Don't pick on people, jump on their failures, criticize their faults— unless, of course, you want the same treatment. Don't condemn those who are down; that hardness can boomerang. Be easy on people; you'll find life a lot easier. Give away your life; you'll find life given back, but not merely given back—given back with bonus and blessing. Giving, not getting, is the way. Generosity begets generosity."

One Word

"RESTORE" is my one word for this year.

God is restoring my life. This year I want to do what God would have me to do. I don't want delay His plans for my life. He has waited long enough! I know that there is restoration that needs to take place and He has already put that into motion.  I want to serve as a vessel that He can work through to RESTORE broken, hurting, lost, forgotten, dying, hopeless, rejected, defeated, abandoned souls. I want others to see where I have been and know that God can take what's wrong and make it what it was supposed to be. I pray that others will be able to see that He trades beauty for ashes, we just have to give it over to Him.

Deuteronomy 30 (The Message)

1-5 Here's what will happen. While you're out among the nations where God has dispersed you and the blessings and curses come in just the way I have set them before you, and you and your children take them seriously and come back to God, your God, and obey Him with your whole heart and soul according to everything that I command you today, God, your God, will restore everything you lost; He'll have compassion on you; He'll come back and pick up the pieces from all the places where you were scattered. No matter how far away you end up, God, your God, will get you out of there and bring you back to the land your ancestors once possessed. It will be yours again. He will give you a good life and make you more numerous than your ancestors.

Deuteronomy 30:1-5 (New American Standard Bible)
Restoration Promised

1"So it shall be when all of these things have come upon you, the blessing and the curse which I have set before you, and you call them to mind in all nations where the LORD your God has banished you,
2and you return to the LORD your God and obey Him with all your heart and soul according to all that I command you today, you and your sons,
3then the LORD your God will restore you from captivity, and have compassion on you, and will gather you again from all the peoples where the LORD your God has scattered you.
4"If your outcasts are at the ends of the earth, from there the LORD your God will gather you, and from there He will bring you back.
5"The LORD your God will bring you into the land which your fathers possessed, and you shall possess it; and He will prosper you and multiply you more than your fathers.

What is your one word for this year?
